Sayyid Al-Hakeem Calls to Restore Regional Stability Through Dialogue, Preserve Shared Interests
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, received His Excellency the French Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Patrick Durel, on the occasion of the conclusion of his tenure as head of his country's mission in Iraq.
The meeting addressed developments in the political situation across the region, as well as the bilateral relationship between Iraq and France.
H.E. affirmed the importance of major powers shouldering their responsibilities toward the events unfolding in the region, calling for an end to the escalation and a return to calm and stability, and describing dialogue as the best means of preserving the interests and rights of all parties.
On the domestic front, H.E. Sayyid Al-Hakeem renewed his support for the judicial and governmental track in combating corruption, stressing the need to focus on major cases and champion public funds, and affirming the importance of addressing the administrative structure and closing the loopholes exploited by the corrupt, conditioning this on the introduction of governance, automation, and reform of the banking sector.
H.E. said: "The end of next September marks the deadline for the international coalition's mission and its withdrawal from Iraq," calling for the establishment of bilateral relations between Iraq and some coalition countries at both the economic and political levels, in a manner that serves the interests of all and preserves the country's stability and sovereignty.
