Sayyid Al-Hakeem: Anbar Essential Partner to Build Diversified, Sustainable Iraqi Economy
At the guesthouse of the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mr. Haibat Al-Halbousi, in Anbar province, His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, met with a gathering of sheikhs and dignitaries of the Anbar tribes, recalling the historic relationship with the sheikhs of Anbar dating back to the marja'iyya of Imam Al-Hakeem (may his secret be sanctified), and noting the importance of engagement and sharing in citizens' concerns.
H.E. called for assessing matters with neither understatement nor exaggeration, stressing the need for realism in dealing with events, while noting that Iraq is suffering financially due to regional events and is the most affected by them, renewing the call to diversify export outlets by relying on pipelines to the Mediterranean and Red Seas, which would boost revenues, sustain exports, achieve partnerships, and give Iraq influence by virtue of the markets it targets.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem stressed reducing dependence on oil by activating productive sectors such as agriculture, tourism, industry, investment, and modern technology, stressing the importance of economic partnerships to attract investment, conditioning this on the availability of national decision-making, and expressing his hope that the government succeeds in its economic reform tracks, while explaining that Anbar is important to Iraq's development tracks, as the province possesses industrial, agricultural, and touristic potential, along with an important geographic reality that contributes to strengthening the energy file.
H.E. said that the end of September places Iraq before two key milestones: the first being the conclusion of the international coalition's mission and the transition to a bilateral relationship built on economic ties, and the second being the consolidation of weapons under state authority.
