Sayyid Al-Hakeem Affirms Support, Empowerment for Local Governments to Enhance Development, Services with Diwanyia Governor
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received in His office in Baghdad on Saturday morning, 14 February 2026, the Governor of Al-Diwaniyah, Mr. Abbas Al-Zamili.
During the meeting, His Eminence was briefed in detail on the overall situation in Al-Diwaniyah Governorate, where H.E. reiterated the necessity of granting local governments their full constitutional, legal, financial, and administrative authorities, and affirmed that they are the first point of responsibility before citizens in delivering services across the provinces, stressing that empowering local administrations plays a key role in accelerating reconstruction efforts and enhancing the quality of services.
His Eminence called for closer coordination and effective integration between local governments, ministries, and state institutions to ensure better service provision and the completion of ongoing projects, particularly those that have achieved advanced progress, in a way that directly improves citizens’ living conditions and meets their expectations.
H.E. also underlined the importance of engaging with universities and Iraqi professionals in Al-Diwaniyah Governorate, and harnessing scientific expertise and national competencies to develop strategic solutions for the governorate, in addition to maximizing its financial resources and diversifying income sources to support sustainable development.
His Eminence reaffirmed support for local governments in carrying out their responsibilities, and H.E.’s commitment to enabling them to effectively serve citizens and promote stability and development across all governorates.
