Sayyid Al-Hakeem Affirms Dialogue Importance, Steer Clear from Escalation
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, met in H.E. office in Baghdad on Tuesday morning, 27 January 2026, H.E. the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Mr. Elbrus Kutrashev.
The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Iraq and Russia and ways to strengthen them in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and their friendly peoples, in addition to reviewing the latest political developments in Iraq and the region.
H.E. stressed the need to intensify efforts to keep the region away from escalation, affirming that dialogue and consultation remain the most effective means of reaching sustainable solutions among all parties.
H.E. noted that Iraq, through the recent elections, has sent clear signals of recovery and is experiencing an unprecedented level of stability; however, the key challenge lies in consolidating this stability into a lasting one and avoiding any risk to the achievements made across various sectors. H.E. also emphasized the importance of addressing the economic crisis through well-planned and systematic strategies that help activate productive sectors and reduce overreliance on oil.
H.E. further underlined the necessity of moving forward with completing the remaining electoral processes and forming the government, expressing hope that the Parliament will succeed in electing a President of the Republic, paving the way for the formation of the new government.
