Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Al-Samarrai Discuss Iraqi Developments, Stress Constitutional Timelines
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received on Tuesday morning, 6 January 2026, the Head of Azm Alliance, Mr. Muthanna Al-Samarrai, in His office, where discussions addressed developments in Iraq’s current situation and the forthcoming constitutional entitlements.
Both sides emphasized the need to adhere to constitutional timelines leading to the formation of the next government, enabling it to assume its responsibilities and confront the challenges ahead.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem called for safeguarding balance among and within the country’s components, stressing the importance of sharing the Iraqi concern and reaching consensus on the approach that should guide state governance in the next phase, while underscoring the value of regional and international openness and taking surrounding challenges into account.
H.E. further emphasized the necessity of preserving the stability achieved across security, social, and political tracks, noting that the next major challenge lies in advancing the economic situation, diversifying income sources, and improving service delivery. H.E. affirmed that Iraq is capable of overcoming these challenges, as it has surmounted previous critical tests, provided that efforts are unified and those assuming responsibility share the Iraqi concern and the aspirations of the people.
