Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives Patriarch Eastern Ancient Church, Affirms Christian Component Authenticity, Role Iraq Stability
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received in His office on Monday morning, 5 January 2026, His Holiness Patriarch Mar Georgis III Younan, Head of the Ancient Church of the East in Iraq and worldwide.
His Eminence conveyed congratulations to His Holiness and to Christian brothers and sisters on the occasions of Christmas and the New Year, reaffirming the deep-rooted presence of the Christian component in Iraq as a valuable pillar of society and a key contributor to the richness of Iraqi culture.
H.E. renewed the call for the voluntary return of Iraqi Christians to take part in rebuilding their homeland, affirming that Iraq is witnessing stability across the political, social, and security spheres. H.E. also stressed that the recent elections marked a significant national achievement, reflecting society’s adherence to the political system and its cohesion around it.
