Sayyid Al-Hakeem Discusses Bilateral Ties Enhancements, Economic Challenges with Jordanian Ambassador

His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, met on Thursday evening, January 1, 2026, with H.E. Maher Al-Tarawneh, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Iraq.
The meeting included an exchange of greetings marking the New Gregorian Year and discussions on a range of shared issues, with particular focus on strengthening Iraqi–Jordanian relations in a way that advances the interests of both countries and their brotherly peoples.
H.E. reviewed recent developments in Iraq’s political landscape, especially the presidential entitlements and the formation of the new government following the latest legislative elections, underscoring that these outcomes represent a national achievement that adds to Iraq’s record of security, political, and social progress, notably the conduct of elections with a high degree of integrity and transparency.
H.E. emphasized the need to sustain a policy of mutual openness between Iraq and its regional and international environment, noting that the country’s most pressing challenge at present is primarily economic, tied to completing the services file, improving infrastructure, and deepening economic partnerships, and affirming that Iraq—through the determination of its people and its national will—will overcome this challenge as it has surmounted even greater ones over the past two decades.
