Sayyid Al-Hakeem From Our Lady of the Flowers Church Extends Christmas Greetings, Affirms Christ, Mary Symbols for All Humanity
From Our Lady of the Flowers Church in the Karrada district, His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, extended congratulations to Christian brothers and sisters in Iraq and worldwide on the occasion of Christmas, affirming that Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary (peace be upon them) belong to all humanity.
H.E. noted that the Holy Quran addresses the life of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary (peace be upon them) in several passages, explaining that Jesus Christ is the Messenger of peace, while our Noble Messenger is the Messenger of mercy, stressing how greatly humanity today needs the integration of mercy and peace.
H.E. called for coexistence, integration, and mutual understanding of one another’s particularities and beliefs in light of diversity and plurality, emphasizing that these values represent the path of the divine religions. H.E. expressed rejection of violence, hatred, and denial of others, and stressed respect for the law as the guarantor of the balance between rights and duties, affirming that the birth of Jesus Christ is a moment to reaffirm human dignity and the sanctity of human life.
