Sayyid Al-Hakeem From Mar Gorgis Church Congratulates Christmas, Affirms Christian Community Iraq Authenticity
From the Mar Gorgis Chaldean Catholic Church in Baghdad Al-Jadeeda District, His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, extended Christmas greetings on Thursday morning, 25 December 2025, to Christians in Iraq and around the world. H.E. affirmed that the birth of Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him and upon our Prophet and his family) represents a universal humanitarian message shared by all divine religions and is not confined to a single community or faith.
H.E. explained that the Holy Quran addresses the life of Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him) in detail, particularly the miracle of His birth and His declaration of servitude to Allah, commitment to prayer, fasting, and devotion to His mother, free from arrogance or coercion, reflecting a shared ethical value system common to the divine messages.
H.E. noted that these values underscore the importance of the family and the rejection of domestic violence and all forms of violence against women, calling for confronting social challenges through a spirit of shared responsibility and following the path of Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him) in tolerance, love, and human development.
H.E. stressed that the Christian community is an authentic and integral component of Iraq, expressing regret over the migration of many of its members and calling for encouraging their return now that security and stability prevail. H.E. added that Iraq today enjoys stability and security, has successfully conducted elections, and continues efforts to form a government in accordance with constitutional frameworks.
