Sayyid Al-Hakeem Offers Christmas Greetings from Our Lady of Salvation, Calls Peaceful Coexistence
From Our Lady of Salvation Church for Syriac Catholics in Baghdad, His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, extended Christmas greetings to attendees and to Christians in Iraq and worldwide. His Eminence affirmed that Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him and upon our Prophet and his Household) embodies peace, just as our Noble Messenger symbolizes mercy, stressing the need to entrench values of compassion and peace in building a society that uplifts its people and safeguards its diversity.
H.E. underscored that Christmas represents a significant moment to recall the values of Jesus Christ and the path of the prophets and messengers, emphasizing integration and coexistence as enduring principles founded on rights and duties. H.E. renewed the call to manage diversity in ways that strengthen coexistence and integration, urging media institutions, platforms, and influencers to reject hate speech and extremism, and affirming that difference is acceptable under the umbrella of the nation.
H.E. also recalled the painful days that befell this church, noting that those sacrifices contributed to the security, safety, and stability Iraq enjoys today, and expressed hope for the imminent formation of a strong government capable of fulfilling the aspirations of the Iraqi people.
