Sayyid Al-Hakeem Discusses Political Scene Updates, Upcoming Constitutional Entitlements with AbdulHussein Abtan
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received on Sunday morning, December 21, 2025, in his office in Baghdad, Mr. Abdul Hussein Abtan, Head of Iqtidar Watan Party, and discussed the latest developments in the political landscape in Iraq and the region, as well as the nature of the forthcoming constitutional milestones.
H.E. reiterated the call to resolve choices in line with the specified constitutional timelines, stressing the need to activate the role of the upcoming Parliament on both the legislative and oversight levels, and to move forward with forming a government based on the principle of delivering optimal services to citizens while addressing economic and climate challenges.
H.E. emphasized that the foremost challenge is diversifying income sources and transitioning away from a rentier-state approach, affirming the independence of political decision-making, and noted that this is achieved by prioritizing the public interest over private interests, committing to dialogue, and sharing the national responsibility.
