Sayyid Al-Hakeem Affirms Agricultural Sector Priority to Confront Economic Challenges

His Eminence Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, met during his visit to Al-Muthanna Governorate with a gathering of the governorate's farmers.

H.E. reminisced with those in attendance about the long-standing and close relationship binding the people of Al-Muthanna to the Al-Hakeem family — from the Supreme Reference, Imam Al-Hakeem, may his soul be sanctified, to the Ambassador of the Reference Authority and Shaheed Al-Mihrab and Aziz Al-Iraq — extending his blessings to all on the occasion of the auspicious Eid Al-Ghadeer.

H.E. Sayyid Al-Hakeem praised the qualitative leap witnessed in the agricultural reality of Al-Muthanna Governorate, recalling the Rehab Al-Muthanna Initiative, which aims to transform the governorate into an integrated agricultural model.

On the economic front, H.E. acknowledged that Iraq has been affected by rapidly unfolding regional developments and a decline in its oil exports, affirming that farmers are afforded the same priority as government employees and contractors with outstanding dues, given their pivotal role in providing employment opportunities and sustaining the wheel of production.

H.E. Sayyid Al-Hakeem called for the relentless pursuit of major corruption figures and the resolute targeting of high-profile perpetrators of corruption, demanding that the file of farmers' irrigation sprinklers be resolved, and stressing the importance of sustaining agricultural investment in rural areas as a fundamental pillar for generating employment and securing stability therein.

H.E. concluded by affirming that the state is not a merchant but rather a guardian of the public interest, stressing the necessity of ensuring that the agricultural process is viable and profitable for those who undertake it.
