    Sayyid Al-Hakeem Discuses Bilateral Ties Enhancement, To Calm Regional Escalation with French Ambassador

    His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received in His office in Baghdad on Wednesday evening, 11 February 2026, His Excellency the French Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Patrick Durel. 
    The meeting focused on bilateral ties and ways to enhance cooperation between Baghdad and Paris, in addition to discussing the role of major powers in reducing tensions in the region and recent developments in Iraq’s political scene.
    H.E. emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the two countries, noting that Baghdad and Paris possess promising opportunities to advance shared interests and broaden fields of cooperation. H.E. also affirmed that Iraq is pursuing a policy of openness toward all parties, grounded in mutual interests and the preservation of national sovereignty.
    H.E. outlined the current political landscape in Iraq, calling for the completion of the constitutional processes related to the three presidencies and the formation of the next government in a way that reflects the aspirations of the Iraqi people. At the same time, H.E. praised the level of security, military, and intelligence readiness and their capacity to confront various challenges.
    H.E. called for de-escalation in the region, warning that continued tensions could threaten stability in a region closely linked to global interests. H.E. stressed the need to rely on dialogue to resolve disputes and to pursue mutual concessions that serve the public good and safeguard the interests of all.
